Not really back to blogging

Sorry. I guess I wasn't really back to blogging. I'm on facebook now and it's much easier. Anyways for spring break I was super busy. Even though I don't go back til Monday I'm starting up the working part already. I've got till Tuesday morning to grade my hundreds of assignments...no joke....enter the grades in the gradebook and computer and then get them onto the report cards. Oh yeah lesson plans too. It's a good thing I bought a computer back in October.

As for Spring Break, my friend's parents, uncles, and aunt were here so I had a fun time with them. We went to Pearl Harbor (Arizona Memorial, Battleship USS Missouri, Bowfin Submarine, and the Aviation museum), Waimea Bay, Paradise Cove Luau and I can't remember what else but it was a good time. I even got a lot of sun. I'm way darker than what I was a few days ago. Two days at the beach really did it for me.

New update!

Hi Everyone! I'm back to blogging, I think. Our internet was down for a while but now it's up and running. I'm also on facebook and that's a little easier to keep up.

As for an update...we had my grandma's funeral last week and all my cousins were there, 18 of us and 13 great grandchildren. Although it was grandma's funeral, I haven't seen some of my cousin in years and one came all the way from Germany. Also in the past month I have driven two different cars...the first was a great old '86 GMC Sierra pickup! It's great to drive even though it was humungous and now the new car...it's a '96 Ford Tarus. God's been good to me. Anyways...I know that this is short but I got to go to my student's basketball game.

I'll have to wait to see Grandma again.

Yes, Grandma passed away Friday at 11:30 am. I didn't know until after 3.

Thank you all so much for praying for our family. I know it was a lot easier for me because of all of your prayers. I was also saddened to learn that Dr. Doolittle from NBBC passed away on the same day. I thought about the time change and he saw Jesus just 3 hours before my grandma did. I know that God didn't lose sight of both of them at any time. Our days are number and God called them home yesterday. I can only imagine what it's like for them. What do they see? What do they do? What's Jesus like? How are the streets of gold? Well...whatever it's like its' what we live looking forward to all of our lives.

Update on Grandma

Today I was supposed to be at a Teacher's Conference but got a message half way through the day. I ended up going to the hospice to see grandma. So far she has made it through the day. She wasn't up much and only opened her eyes a few times but didn't talk. They said that we all need to say our "goodbyes" but in my case it's a "see you later" But yet still hard. I'll try to keep you updated on what's going on.

Making a Northland Connection!

Yup! Today I was encouraged by seeing a familiar face from Northland. As usual I went to church this morning but this time I saw the Scott family. Aaron Scott and his parents are here visiting and attended my church. It was nice to chat for a little bit and hear about the other two Scotts, Andrew and Jono. Apparently, Andrew and Hannah just had their second baby. Congratulations to them!

I always enjoying meeting people that are connected somehow to Northland. Especially being all the way out here in Hawaii.

tSuNaMi

Yup...you read that right. Another Tsunami Warning. A few months ago (mid November) we had one but it wasn't a strong one at all. It flooded some areas but no big damage. Of course, my side of the island doesn't see much of the action. But I'm fine with that, especially living so close to the shore.

My New Year's Celebration

The way we celebrate here in Hawaii is unique. In all the other places I've spent New Years it's not quite the same. In my previous post there's a slide show of a bunch of firecrackers that I saw. Here in Hawaii it is legal for everyone to set off fireworks. It's a big tradition here. Many of the pictures may look a little blurry, actually they're not bad pictures but it's all the smoke in the air. Yup it's really thick. Some pics were the firecrackers/fireworks that we were setting off and the others are of our neighbours up and down the street. I wish my digital camera had a video setting so you could have seen the incredible amounts of smoke through out our city. Of course, that's common not only in my city but every city around the island/state. Since I was a little girl we would set off fireworks. It's a fun tradition but your money literally goes up in smoke. :)
Oh...there's a pic of a bucket....well...what's left of the bucket. Some of the guys put firecrackers in there so it got so hot it melted it. I thought it was really cool so that's why there's a picture of it.
